Well, one way or another, this 2009 I had a good time

At the beginning of December, I was invited to go to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, in order to attend a thing from work. The event only lasted a day but as I was already there, I decided to stay two more days and hang around the city. As a consequence I had the chance to visit downtown, mainly, and two nearby cities: Zapopan and Tlaquepaque. However, I wanted to visit Tequila and learn about the production of the drink called the same way, and taste a bit, ha ha. What I loved the most were the limited levels of smog and noise, the fact that there are a lot of parks and fountains and the accent of the people. MY SPANISH ACCENT IS SOOOOO BORING.

You know, this year I have visited cities from my own country that were unknown to me, yeeeaaah!

I do remember.
When I was in elementary school, I was always running, trying to get home on time to watch Ernest, le vampire. It was one of my favorite cartoons. I was captivated by his intense oniric life, I guess. My favorite part was his scared face at the end. It is so sad he never got the lady.

Also, I'm recalling that once, after a Paté de Fuá concert, Aida and I started to watch all episodes on youtube, deciding which one was our favorite. After choosing, but before falling asleep, I guess we talked and talked and laughed and laughed (and she may have complained about my cold feet, ho ho)

Today, I stayed home not knowing what to do. I have a lot of things in my to-do list (top of the list, reading for my dissertion, knitting, other readings, Xmas presents...). At first I wanted to go to my favorite coffee shop and read but in the end, I choose to stay here and enjoy doing nothing in particular..a bit of this, a bit of that. However, it has called my attention that started to rain. I thought rains were over in November.

I have the terrible habit of biting my nails. I do it when I'm nervous, bored or anxious. To control it, one of my latest ideas was to use fake nails. But it feels sooo weird. I'm not used to wear my nails long, so now, I have to change the way I grab things or the force I use because I may break them. For example, typing at this precise moment it's difficult because the new nails are on my way. It's a matter of getting used to them..something I wish happens soon.

Yesterday, I was supposed to meet a friend but communication failed and we couldn't find each other. So, I decided to visit some stores and find inspiration for wish list for Xmas. What I found and actually I bought was this notebook with the cover design inspired in one of my Fav tv programs : Boys Before Flowers. The store where I found it sells 100% Korean stuff and there were a lot of things to see. I felt so happy. Also, at my favorite bookstore I found the Pride and Prejudice book I told you about.

My dear friend Melisa suffers because she tends to forget what she has to do, it doesn't matter if she writes it down on her to-do-list. I suffer from a similar problem. What did I do? I bought a blackboard where I place everything: pictures, to-do-list, a calendar, books I want to read/buy... everything. It's in front of my bed, there is no way to miss my activities (well, it's a bit messy, too much information, but believe me it works)

It seems that my excessive happines was due to a sugar overdose. Originally, I was happy but sugar did the rest, ho ho.
Apart from decorating my house and reading I've been going to the movies.

First a friend and I went to watch Inglorious Basterds. Lots of friends were talking about it so I felt curious. Pitt's accent is magnificent. The picture was better than what I expected but certain things reminded me other movies, not from Tarantino. Besides,I kept looking from resemblances between the German actors and American actors. I love the music. My favorite character: Hans Landa.

Yesterday, I went to watch Disgrace with another friend. This movie is based upon a book with the same name by J. M. Coetzee. I've read the book a couple of years ago and I really liked it. There were certains scenes, my favorites, that I still remember perfectly. Tough, Malkovich plays his part great, the story on the screen didn't seduce me as the story on paper. Obviously, the charcters were completely different inside my mind and all. On screen the story is fragmented and I don't know if it is easy to follow. The landscape is really beautiful and very well portrayed. In the end, I didn't like it.

Yesterday/Today I woke up feeling tremendously happy. No reason, apparentaly.

It didn't matter that I had to present two exams and work on my dissertation. I was happy. Plain happiness.

It Smells like Xmas

As the song says, I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes. Xmas is all around me....

Xmas decorations started. Tomorrow we'll go and buy the lights and other supplements that we need to finish this decorative task. Happiness. I love my house full of lights and the Xmas tree and all :)

Barbie's Car

Finding a new car starts to be a pain in the ass. Honestly I don't want one but it is kind of necessary in a big city like mine. I'd like to drive on my bicycle all day, but probably I'd be killed hit by a car in less than a minute.. drivers don't respect other drivers, iuk!

What I really want? To be a Barbie Girl once more!

So I finally went and watch 500 Days of Summer. It is this classic chick flick that I love, where the male character is the cutest and silliest young man in the world. The thing is that in real life, these guys are my type: I always go for the cute guys never for the rude, dangerous type. Never.
I was wondering if tv programs have influenced my likes, or they just reflect it. For example, the following are my favorite t.v characters (well, the ones I can think of at this moment)

1. Cory Matthews from a tv program Boy Meets World. He was the cute, naïve, honest boy, I would chose him over Shun

2. Seth Cohen from The OC. Please, this is a very clear example. The geek, cute, goofey guy. Intelligent and ironic who dresses cute. I would never chose Luke or Ryan

3. Henry Something from Dawson’s Creek. He was so obsessed with Jen. Again, geek and cute. Percy, I’ll never go for him, even if he looks like Joshua Jackson

4. Aidan from Sex and the City. I’ll never forgive Carry from cheating on him. He was so caring, nice, noble and cute

5. Joo Goon Pyo from Boys Before Flowers. Although he is rich and treats people awfully—he is the cutest person and is always caring for his beloved one. He will do everything for love. He finds it hard to show his feelings but that doesn’t keep him from being sweet. He is silly, intelligent.. PERFECT haha

I feel famous

It turns out that I was interviewed due to my participation at the Russian event I told you about. I had to dresses properly and all because my pic was to be taken. I felt so important. Anyways, I think it’s cool that the congress gets diffusion so next year more people gets involved. Autographs after the publication, haha

I'm really into wearing tights. I don't know, somehow I've got tired of wearing jeans, yeah, yeah, they are so practical and comfortable but, naaa, I want something different. I still don't have too many skirts and dresses, but I'm working on it.

this was taken at night, my dress has a lot of wrinkles, hey, it is made of linen, such a delicate fabric. But the color is so cool.

It looks as if I were mad but I am not, lately I've been doing funny faces in front of the camara, no matter how hard I try to avoid it.

weekend at San Luis Potosi

I just came back from my trip to San Luis Potosí. It was a complete success, I had a lot of fun and I won first place, claps, claps, please.

I've never gone to San Luis before. It is a beautiful place, with a downtown very similar to the one in my city. But the people its completely different: at San Luis they're so kind and gentle. The streets are quiet and clean. Also, there are these corridors where you can walk and walk.

The wheather was good, a bit chilli but fine. The food was great. And I got the chance to get to know other students and teachers. Also I visited an old house, so beautiful: just one floor and all the rooms connected surrounding the central yard. Beautiful
